Meridian Massage & Acupressure

Cupping Massage is a 2 day workshop designed to teach massage therapists how to incorporate cupping massage therapy into their daily practice. Massage therapists will learn the theory of cupping, as well as the practical skills to perform a full body cupping massage treatment. Cupping massage has been used for thousands of years in traditional chinese medicine for the treatment of muscular pain. It is easy to perform and provides deep muscular relief with minimal effort from the massage therapist. It is a great addition to any massage therapy practice to take the strain of a deep tissue massage off the therapist and still provide a deep muscular release for their patients.

In this workshop the therapist will learn:
- the history, benefits and contraindications of cupping
- how cupping massage affects the muscles, blood, lymphatic and nervous system
- how to explain cupping massage to their patients and incorporate it into their practice
- how to perform glass fire cupping, plastic pump cupping and silicone/rubber cupping
- how to use cupping massage to treat common trigger points and acupressure points
a general cupping massage routine for the back and neck, and limbs
- how to customize cupping massage for their patients complaint to provide maximum relief

In this 2 day course massage therapists will learn and apply home care stretching and strengthening routines for frequently seen patient complaints. The course work will review muscular anatomy and the causes and presentations for commonly seen patient conditions. Participants will be taken through a series of easy to understand stretching and strengthening programs that will facilitate your patient’s progress.

This course adds the value of including video links for each condition that practitioners are able to give to the patients. The video library of links saves the therapist time of finding and explaining the correct activity and proper form to your patients repeatedly. The videos allow the patient to feel confident that they are performing the recommended activity correctly if they forget the instructions and can realize the benefits of doing their home program.

This course enables therapists to add specialized value to their practice by aiding the patients in achieving their health and wellness goals with professional home care video routines.

Meridian massage differs from Shiatsu in that it is applied directly to the skin and muscle tissue with long flowing movements interspersed with some acupressure over specific points. The intention of the course is to help RMT’s have a stronger effect on the muscular, circulatory and nervous system by adding the knowledge and skill of meridians and acupressure to their everyday massage treatment.

At the end of the course students will be able to give their patients a full body meridian massage treatment that relaxes the patient, releases the muscles and harmonizes energy. RMT’s may choose to use meridian massage on its own or incorporate acupressure and meridian massage into their everyday massage treatments.
